Many of us have been on the beer then had a burger and Cap’n Jaspers has been around for all my drinking years. I vaguely recollect it in it’s original position and somewhat smaller form as a lad. So I am saying very late 70’s, and indeed it would appear that 1978/79 was its birth. What was a very small hand built shed (shed might be a bit posh for it’s early form) has become a bit bigger, but still holds the same original purpose as it always did, basic food, good value and a great meeting place.
John Dudley was the founder and although no longer with us, his daughter continues the good work, so next time you are down on the Barbican, grab a cuppa and a bite to eat, sit back and enjoy the world around you.
This great image was used with permission from John at JayJay Photography. For those that don’t know John is (as shown by this image) a superb Plymouth photographer. How good? You might ask, well the Fashion Cat walks of London see him popping up! Check out his Facebook Page
Well that’s it for today, short and sweet.
